Open Class on the History of the Russian Language Held at ISFT Institute
An open class dedicated to the in-depth study of language history and its stages of development was held at ISFT Institute for students of the Philology program.
On April 22, 2026, an experienced lecturer, L.A. Nazarova, conducted a master class with the participation of first-year students.
The topic of the session was “The Completion of Dialectal Differentiation in Old Russian and the Loss of Reduced Vowels.” During the class, the following key issues were thoroughly analyzed:
- the processes of historical language formation and dialect differentiation;
- phonetic changes and their impact on the modern language system;
- complex patterns of language development based on ancient sources.
The class was conducted in an interactive format, enabling students to strengthen their knowledge of Old Russian phonetics and morphology through practical examples.
Such open classes play an important role in developing the professional competencies of future philologists, broadening their academic thinking, and fostering a fundamental approach to linguistics.
